Biographies Joan C. Cook, Executive Director Joan C. Cook is a graduate of Plymouth State University and the University of Maine School of Law. After practicing law in Biddeford for many years, Joan became Vice President and Trust Officer at Biddeford Savings Bank, and then Vice President and Wealth Advisor for Charter Trust Company. Joan has served on the Boards of Southern Maine Medical Center, Sweetser, United Way of York County, Kennebunk Land Trust, The Brick Store Museum, Maine Estate Planning Council, and several other organizations. She is currently a member of the Plymouth State University President's Council and Chair of the University's Heritage Society. Ann Coffin, trustee Ann Coffin received her BS in Business Administration from Trinity College, Burlington, Vermont. Currently Vice President at Biddeford Savings Bank, she has over 23 years of banking experience in the areas of marketing and deposit/electronic services. Ann has volunteered for various nonprofit organizations in Southern Maine. Eric Cote, trustee Eric Cote graduated from Colby College, and the New England School of Law. He served in the army in Vietnam and Africa. He is a former Mayor of Saco; current City Councilor in Saco; and he has been an attorney in his own general practice law firm for more than 27 years. He has served as Director for the non-profit Wardwell Home in Saco, for over 18 years. The Wardwell Home provides housing and supportive services for the elderly. Joseph R. Daigneault, trustee Joseph R. Daigneault entered the insurance field in 1978. He started his own independent business in 1988 to help people with their insurance and retirement planning needs. Mr. Daigneault has been a student of The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and has earned the professional designations of ChFC, Chartered Financial Consultant CASL, Chartered Advisor for Senior Living, CLU, Chartered Life Underwriter, RHU, Registered Health Underwriter, LUTCF. He is a Maine Notary Public and a Dedimus Justice. Joe has been a volunteer with the TAX-AIDE program completing tax returns for the elderly, disabled, and low income at the Biddeford Community Center. He also serves on the Wardwell Home Board of Directors and is Assistant Treasurer. Veronica M. Sheehan, trustee Veronica McGovern Sheehan is the Executive Director of the Wardwell Assisted Living Services. Before assuming that position, she was Director of Resident Services for the Wardwell from 1994 to 1999. Veronica graduated from Thornton Academy in 1958. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1961; enrolled in the B.S.N. completion program at Saint Joseph's College. Veronica was employed at the former Webber Hospital, now Southern Maine Medical Center (SMMC) for over 25 years, beginning in the Operating Room. Veronica "Vonnie", was the Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department from 1970 to 1987, and was the Nursing Director of the Emergency Department of SMMC from 1987-1992. She served as Nursing Director of the Fourth Floor Nursing Unit from January 1993 to September 1994. Veronica is a Board Corporator of Southern Maine Medical Center, and served as a Director of St. Joseph's Manor, Sweetser Children's Home, and a Board Director of the Wardwell. She served on the State of Maine Legislature's Committee to study assisted living. Veronica also served on a committee with the Bureau of Adult and Elderly Services. This study was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Presently she serves on the Board of Corporators for the Southern Maine Medical Center and the Saco and Biddeford Savings Institution. Debra Thomas, Trustee Debra is Program Manager of Truslow Adult Day Health Center. She graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts, with a Bachelor of Arts in social work. She is a licensed social worker who has been working in geriatrics for more than 25 years. Her career began as a care manager for Senior Home Care in Boston. Since then she has held various positions serving seniors in Maine. She was a social services director at two nursing homes and the administrator of an assisted living facility. Debra has been affiliated with the Southern Maine Agency on Aging since 1981. She has worked for them as a care manager, an elder advocate, and currently oversees the adult day program operated by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging which is located in Saco, Maine. |
